Istituto Superiore Mario Boella

Founded in July 2000 by the Compagnia di San Paolo (of which the Institute is instrumental entity) and Politecnico di Torino, ISMB later accepted the industrial partners Motorola, SKF, STMicroelectronics and Telecom Italy taking shape as one of the successful examples of synergy between university-and business, so usual in the north American landscape.
The Institute is a Center of Industrial Applied Research in wireless technologies, with about 250 researchers working in the areas of research synergic: Antennas and Electromagnetic Compatibility, e-Security, Photonics, Microsystems, Satellite Navigation, Networking and wireless protocols, Mobile Radio Technology for Multimedia with its applications and express skills that include RFID (Radio Frequency Identifiers), DTT (Digital Terrestrial Television), the SWN (Wireless Sensors Netwoks) and satellite receivers.

The main cooperation with international institutions of excellence are with the Anderson School of Management of UCLA, the University FAF Munich, the Berkeley University, BUPT Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, the Henry Samueli School of Engineering of UCLA and the Office of Outer Space Affairs of United Nations.
It is a reference center of gravity for innovation, with the active promotion of the Torino Wireless Cluster, is a partner of the Torino Wireless Foundation, and involved in areas such as Business Incubator I3P, ITP, and more.

The Professional Studio collaborates with the Laboratory of Satellite Navigation Institute, working collaboratively in an operational scheme that allows the creation of prototypes engineered that allow companies to contain costs, shrinking the time required to arrive at the series production.
